Café owner jailed for smuggling

The owner of a city centre café in Bath has been jailed for eight months for smuggling hand-rolling tobacco. Angel Matovski aged 56, of the Waverley Café in Kingsmead Square, was found guilty earlier this year at Bristol Crown Court of conspiracy to evade duty on tobacco. He was jointly charged with his son, Roland, who was also found guilty.

Last week, the court sentenced Matovski senior to eight months' imprisonment after he had been found in possession of a total of 20 kg of tobacco. His son was given a four-month suspended sentence.
