Canada wins World Culinary Grand Prix
Team Canada has won the 2001 World Culinary Grand Prix, which took place at the Scothot exhibition in Glasgow this week. Team Scotland took second place, while Team USA finished third. The World Culinary Grand Prix, which is sponsored by Caterplan and accredited by the World Association of Cooks Societies, comprises two events: the cold buffet challenge and the restaurant of nations. It involved 10 teams competing over the four days of the exhibition. hot kitchens serving 100 covers in one service - comprised: British Columbia seafood martini, seared tuna, prawn and fried oyster with grilled vegetables, scallop ragout, quinoa salad, cucumber jelly and field greens; sweetbread-wrapped veal tenderloin and braised lamb shank with potato celeriac pave, lavender honey-infused vegetables and scallion; and chocolate and cherry pudding, passion fruit curd apple barrel fritter, elderberry and vanilla ice-creams with seasonal fruits.
