Carr in driving seat at Hazlewood Castle

Richard Carr has been appointed general manager of Hazlewood Castle, near Tadcaster, North Yorkshire.

The hotel, which opens in September under the direction of chef John Benson-Smith, will offer 21 luxury bedrooms, banqueting for 200, a cookery school and a 90-seat restaurant, which will be named 1086 after the date of the castle's listing in the Domesday Book.

Mr Carr was previously general manager at the 24-bedroom Hunstrete House near Bath, sold by Arcadian Hotels earlier this year to private owners.

He has also worked at Bodysgallen Hall in Llandudno, Aberconwy and Colwyn, and at three locations in York - Middlethorpe Hall hotel, the Purey Cust Nuffield Hospital, and the Viking Hotel.
