A six-course dinner will be held at the Marriott Hotel in Glasgow on Sunday 19 April to announce the winners of the fourth annual Drambuie Scottish Chef Awards. Each course will be cooked by a leading Scottish chef. The menu includes terrine of rabbit, herb and pine nut salad, and medallion of Buccleugh beef, shredded vegetables and pesto.

Categories in the awards, which have attracted chefs from all over Scotland, include chef of the year, restaurant of the year, new restaurant of the year and the special achievement award.

hampshire fare A menu featuring smoked fish surprise with watercress and yogurt was judged to be the best at the Hampshire Fare menu competition that was held last month at Southampton City College.

The winning menu was by Pierre-Yves Morfoisse of the Café Rouge restaurant in Winchester. The fish surprise consisted of smoked trout, tomatoes, avocado and sheep's milk cheese encased in smoked salmon. This was followed by roast fillet of venison with potato fritters and candied shallots, and finished by a warm apple charlotte with cider sauce.
