Fatty Towers, a seaside hotel with a big difference, has opened for business in Margate, Kent.

The 35-bedroom hotel is owned by Buster Bloodvessel, the front man of pop group Bad Manners. In protest at nouvelle cuisine and single beds, everything at Fatty Towers is big, from the 8ft x 8ft beds and the four-man baths, to the 48oz steaks on offer on Buster's "Blow Out" menu.

"From staying in hotels around the world with the band, there were certain things that really annoyed me about chain hotels, such as tiny food portions, with minuscule beds to match," said Mr Bloodvessel.

The rack rate will start at about £25 and the hotel will also run a separate restaurant for non-resident guests.
