Cafetieres need not be restricted to table service. Louie Salvoni, managing director of Brasilia (UK), says two hotel groups are going to put his new cafetières on bedroom beverage trays. They are made from shatterproof polycarbonate, and have a plastic filter head.

Instant drinks

Balmoral Scanomat's compact Classic I drinks dispenser allows the user to fill cafetières with fresh ground coffee, while at the same time dispensing instant cappuccino, juices, and flavoured milk drinks. One version on a dark walnut cart suits hotel foyers etc, and has a built-in wash basin.
