ITT closer to CIGA
ITT Sheraton moved a step closer to taking control of Ciga Hotels last week with the appointment of two representatives to Ciga's board of directors.
A spokesman for ITT, which recently failed in a bid to take a 51% stake in Ciga, confirmed it still hoped to be able to acquire the luxury chain and "assimilate" it into Sheraton.
ITT currently has a 20.3% stake in Ciga and is actively seeking to raise that further. It also hopes to gain further seats on the board.
ARA RECYCLES
ARA Services has instituted a waste management programme based on one tested over the last two years by its US parent company.
Its Earth Sense recycling information pack shows restaurant managers how to measure the waste produced by their outlet, set realistic targets to reduce waste and approach the client to secure co-operation.
ARA was originally involved in the working party on environmental standard BS7750 before it decided the system was inappropriate for the hotel and catering industry.
SHOW GROWS
Preparations for Caterer's 1994 Careers and Recruitment Show, being held at the Novotel in Hammersmith, London, this October, are well advanced.
A number of big employers who have not exhibited at the show in recent years, such as Forte and Gardner Merchant, have booked stands.
The show is organised by Roger Wain-Heapy of Brintex Recruitment Events, tel: 0225 833316.
