CAREERS SHOW

EMPLOYERS are showing growing interest in the Careers and Recruitment Show 1994, to be held at the Novotel Hammersmith, London, on 7 and 8 October.

The show, which is presented by Caterer and organised by Brintex Recruitment Events, has already been chosen by Whitbread as an important part of its recruitment campaign.

Whitbread has booked four stands at the show, and will be promoting six of its brands - Pizza Hut, TGI Friday's, Beefeater, Whitbread Inns, Country Club Hotels and Thresher.

Mairi Vodden, the Pizza Hut recruitment consultant who is co-ordinating Whitbread's involvement with the show, said many catering graduates did not realise the many career development benefits that exist with a multiplebrand operator such as Whitbread.lFor further information on the Careers and Recruitment Show, telephone (0225) 833316 or 071-973 6401.

FOOD PROMS

MORE than 1,000 pupils from 36 schools in the Strathclyde region took part in a Scottish food education project organised by the Scottish Food Proms.

The pupils were asked to devise maps showing the origins of Scottish produce. The maps went on display last week as part of an eight-day Scottish food event which included gourmet dinners, chef talks and cookery courses.

Around 100 pupils were able to educate their tastebuds at lunches cooked by top Scottish chefs Nick Nairn of the Braeval Old Mill at Aberfoyle, and Jim Kerr of Glasgow's Rogano restaurant.

Earlier this week, 1,000 pupils tucked into a Scottish food tasting at the Tinto Firs Hotel in Newlands, courtesy of Mount Charlotte Thistle Hotels and Scottish food producers.
