VISITORS to next month's World of Hospitality exhibition at London's Earls Court will be encouraged to rethink their provision for Britain's 14 million disabled people.

According to management consultant Touche Ross, a further £22b could be spent annually if tourism facilities were made fully accessible to people with mobility difficulties.

The Forte Travelodge stand, number G860 on the ground floor of Interiors Expo, will feature a bedroom adapted for use by disabled guests.

The ready-made timber frame room made by the Potton Group includes manoeuvring space on both sides of the bed, wider doorway access, an alarm located in the bedside unit and a low-level spy hole in the bedroom door for use from a wheelchair.

The room will be used in all new Forte Travelodges.

The 1994 Holiday Care Awards will also be launched on the stand. This year Holiday Care and hoteliers want to draw the attention of designers to the importance of good design for disabled people. Caterer will be supporting the initiative. See the Interiors supplement in next week's issue for further details.
