chunnel safety

FIRST aid and fire and track safety are just part of the intensive compulsory training being given to the first catering recruits for Channel Tunnel trains in the run up to services starting in October.

Employer the Cross Channel Catering Company (CCCC) has just completeda four-week trainingcourse for its first 64on-board staff for the Eurostar trains.

An estimated 800 stewards and 100 pursers will eventually go through the course, 500 of them by the end of this year.

Four full-time trainers have been employed by CCCC. Staff are taught hygiene, customer care and how to operate hand-held tills. A mock-up of the train is being used to give staff practical experience. All staff take an exam at the end of the training.
