BARNET DSO WIN
THE London Borough of Barnet has awarded its £2m-a-year school meals contract to its direct service organisation (DSO), which is believed to have put in a nil-subsidy tender.
The contract is for around three million meals a year in 81 schools across the borough. A spokeswoman for the council said the DSO's bid offered a £370,000 annual saving over the present contract, which ends on 31 July.
But she declined to confirm or deny whether the DSO had tendered on the basis of nil-subsidy, saying the information was confidential.
