CHICAGO MERGER
INTER-Continental is to spend $10m (£6.6m) refurbishing the Forum Hotel in Chicago as part of a project to merge the property with its neighbour, the Hotel Inter-Continental.
The hotels have shared the same management team for the past three years. They will now be amalgamated into a single luxury hotel with a total of 844 bedrooms.
CYPRUS RENOVATION
MORE than £14m is to be spent expanding and renovating the Cyprus Hilton in Nicosia by the Cyprus Tourism Development Company, which owns the 224-bedroom hotel.
The first phase, due for completion next February, will result in a new 84-bedroom executive wing. This will be followed by an overhaul of the existing property.
ISRAELI openings
HOLIDAY Inn Worldwide has signed a development agreement with Africa Israel Hotels & Resorts for seven hotels in Israel over the next five years. Africa Israel has already developed four Holiday Inns in the past 12 months.
