Catering push at Earls Court centre

Beeton Rumford, the catering subsidiary of exhibition group Earls Court Olympia, is hoping the opening of its 700-seat Terrace Restaurant at Earls Court 1 in London later this month will boost its turnover at exhibitions by more than 20%.

Until now the company has operated a number of small catering outlets at different points around the exhibition centre. However, research found customers would prefer to have a wider choice of food available in one restaurant, and £2m has been spent on designing the Terrace Restaurant in response to this demand.

"The new restaurant will enable us to serve 60,000 more customers over the 10 days of October's London Motor Show alone," Richard Tate, managing director of Beeton Rumford, told Caterer.

"Achieving a 20% increase in turnover from this is our target. The restaurant was designed to be commercially successful and to improve customer service," he added.

The restaurant was located away from the exhibition floors, unlike previous outlets, and would provide customers with an "oasis away from the hustle and bustle", said Mr Tate.
