Wholesaler Cearns & Brown, had a major presence at the show through its sponsorship of the Cookery Theatre.

Super chef Colin Capon was on top form showing how to make fantastic Oriental meals from ingredients as diverse as Grampian's Lemon and Blackpepper coated chicken fillets cut into strips, stir fried and amalgamated with a Thai sauce, the main ingredient of which was a Batchelor's packet soup. All of which, he was pleased to tell the audience, are available from Cearns & Brown.

Colin's credentials are impressive. Not only did he produce the sumptuous meals seen on the nation's TVs in period dramas Pride & Prejudice and Wives & Daughters, he also cooked up the farewell banquet in Hong Kong when Chris Patten handed the island back to China.

C&B also made a feature of its Flexicold system, a one-number ordering service which gives caterers the convenience of a single delivery drop comprising frozen, chilled and ambient products. The company also showcased its abilities to supply small catering equipment items and non-foods.
