Charity tackles alcohol and drug abuse

Alcohol awareness charity the Ark Foundation has launched a programme of one-off 90-minute lectures for catering colleges. The idea is to advise staff and students about behavioural characteristics and problems associated with alcohol and drug abuse and how these might be tackled in the workplace.

The first session was staged at Hammersmith & West London College last month and was presented on behalf of the foundation by Peter Kay, director of education and training at Tony Adams's Sporting Chance charity.

The Ark programme is sponsored by the Savoy Educational Trust, and lectures are delivered at no cost to colleges on request. The lecture is also available to companies for a negotiated fee. Further details are available from Ark Foundation executive director Richard Stanes on 020 8772 0366 or by visiting the Web site, www.thearkfoundation.co.uk.
