Chi-Chi's acquires third UK restaurant

Chi-Chi's, the Mexican restaurant chain, has acquired its third UK property, which it expects to start operating in November.

The new restaurant at the Meadows shopping centre in Chelmsford, Essex, is the chain's second shopping centre outlet. The first is at Whiteleys in London's Bayswater.

The company is also interested in other types of location, and is said to be about to sign up at least three further restaurants sites in the South-east, none of them in shopping centres.

The Chelmsford premises, which was introduced to Chi-Chi's by Donaldsons chartered surveyors, includes a 110-seat restaurant area, with additional space at the bar and terrace for about 100.

The restaurant is expected to serve approximately 600 people a day.
