Christmas comes early for Lancashire hotel…

While summer holidays are probably uppermost in most people's minds, a hotel near Blackburn in Lancashire is already raking in record bookings for Christmas parties.

The Macdonald Dunkenhalgh hotel in Clayton-le-Moors has taken over 3,000 bookings for Christmas festivities, well up on last year's tally of 2,500.

Business development manager Louise Woodcock said serious bookings rarely arrive until the launch of the hotel's Christmas brochure, which was still at the printers last week.

"The build-up seems to start earlier and earlier, but to have so many bookings at this time of the year is an exception," commented Woodcock. "Maybe more people are deciding to stay at home this year rather than go abroad."
