City launch for Compass's fine dining company

Contract catering group Compass is bringing its US-based fine dining company Restaurant Associates to the City.

The deal to bring the brand to Britain has been a closely guarded secret by the group but it is understood it will now go ahead in September.

Restaurant Associates will deal with Compass's prestige contracts within London. Talks are also going ahead for the group to operate outside the City.

Compass bought Restaurant Associates in 1998 for £54m. It runs restaurants in New York as well as contract catering across the country.
