Cliff Richard to open hotel in Manchester

Pop legend Sir Cliff Richard has teamed up with hotel operator Arora International to open a hotel in Manchester.

The Arora International Manchester will open next month in the heart of the city's Chinatown area. It will have 141 bedrooms, eight meeting rooms, a gym and a restaurant and bar.

Surinder Arora, chairman of Arora International, said: "Our customers at our other Arora hotels in Heathrow and Gatwick were asking us for a long time to open one in Manchester - we just needed to find the right property."

Richard said: "Finding the right hotel operator, the best location in Manchester and a fabulous property were foremost in my mind when I decided to open a hotel. I struck lucky on all three counts. Guests staying with us might even discover one of my themed rooms!"

Arora International operates two hotels in Heathrow and a third at Gatwick.
