Compass military arm wins US contract

A COMPASS Group subsidiary has won a contract worth £70m to provide catering for personnel at US naval bases.

Eurest Support Services, Compass's military, offshore and remote-site subsidiary, will provide catering for more than 270,000 personnel at six major bases in the USA and two in Italy.

The ten-year deal with Naval Exchange Service Command is estimated to be worth £70m in sales.

Eurest has reviewed the demographic data for each base to determine what food to offer. The sites will feature national chains, such as Pizza Hut, Dunkin' Donuts, Burger King, Sbarro and Blimpies. Eurest will also install Compass Group's Profiles brand, which offers a variety of cuisines cooked in view of customers.

The company will begin operations in April at Naval Station Mayport in Florida.
