NATIONAL Leisure Catering (NLC) last week opened a 300-seat restaurant at Portsmouth's Historic Dockyard, home of the Royal Naval Museum, the Mary Rose and HMS Victory.
The restaurant is being operated by NLC under a 10-year contract awarded by Tricon Foodservice Consultants on behalf of Portsmouth Naval Base.
It is housed in a 19th century boathouse, converted at a cost of £2.3m with funds from the EC, English Heritage, Portsmouth City Counciland NLC itself.
BAKERY DEAL
SUTCLIFFE Catering Scotland has won a contract to feed more than 1,000 staff at British Bakeries operations in Glasgow, Ayr and Inverness.
Other recent contract wins include staff feeding at Body Shop product manufacturer Soap Works in Glasgow and a survival centre at Aberdeen's Robert Gordon Institute of Technology.
TAKING THE BISCUIT
RUSSELL & Brand has won its first major industrial contract in Wales, at the Burton's Biscuits factory in Llantarnam, Gwent, starting this summer.
The contract, worth about £500,000 a year in turnover terms, involves providing 850-1,000 meals a day to workers operating a24-hour shift.
MoD MANAGEMENT
GARDNER Merchant has been awarded a five-year facilities management contract by the Ministry of Defence.
The contract encompasses eight sites in Sussex and Kent and covers cafeteria and mess catering, refuse handling, cleaning and laundry for up to 3,000 staff a day in the summer, and 1,500 during winter.
