Cornwall CC holds inquiry

CORNWALL County Council has ordered an independent external inquiry into the award of its school meals contract to BET Catering Services.

The council's Labour group claims BET made a "qualified" bid, which is technically not permissible. But the council's chief solicitor said the qualification was simply an enquiry about pensions.

In addition, there have been allegations that enquiries about discounts were put in a way which showed the council's direct service organisation in a less favourable light.
