Cost-saving refrigerant

FOSTER claims to be the only UK manufacturer providing hydrocarbon as a standard refrigerant option. It now offers caterers the opportunity to purchase its latest Premier cabinets with hydrocarbon refrigerants at the same price as standard refrigerant models .

Foster comparisons indicate that hydrocarbons offer 15 per cent lower energy consumption than other leading refrigerants, including Glycol. They are claimed to provide a quicker "pull-down" when doors are closed plus lower noise level and lower compressor operating temperature, which means less heat emitted into the kitchen. The company also points out that hydrocarbons are a less aggressive material and thus contribute to an expected longer life for the compressor.
