Cotter moves up at Starwood

Starwood Hotels & Resorts has appointed its chief operating officer Robert Cotter to the additional position of president, following the decision of Barry Sternlicht to step down as chairman and chief executive earlier this month.
Industry veteran Cotter, who has been chief operating officer at the company since 2000, will retain responsibility for Starwood's hotel and timeshare operations.
His previous roles at the company include president of international operations; president and chief operating officer, Europe; and senior vice-president and president of its Asia-Pacific Division.
