De Vere remains upbeat

Hotels and fitness clubs group De Vere has issued an upbeat trading statement.

Like-for-like room yields in the first four months of the group's financial year increased by 5% at De Vere hotels compared with the same period last year.

Including the newly refurbished De Vere Belfry and De Vere Daresbury Park hotels, the increase was 7%.

At the group's Village Leisure hotels, like-for-like room yield grew by 3%.

De Vere's financial year started at the beginning of October.

The group has recently been under pressure from shareholder Guinness Peat Group to demerge its Village Leisure hotels and Greens fitness clubs.
