De Vere up to the mark
The De Vere Group's hotels performed in line with expectations over the past 12 months. Turnover at its De Vere hotels was up by 12% for the 53 weeks to 1 October, compared with the same period in 1998-99. Like-for-like occupancy was 74% while room yield rose by 4%.
The company said that its two recently redeveloped hotels, the 324-bedroom Belfry at Wishaw in the West Midlands and the 181-bedroom Daresbury Park in Warrington, continued to trade well.
The 192-bedroom Carden Park in Chester and the 145-bedroom St David's Park in Flint-shire, North Wales, both bought in March, did likewise.
Turnover during the year at De Vere's Village Leisure hotels was up by 6% on 1999. Like-for-like occupancy was 82% and room yield rose by 2%.
The Village Coventry and the Village Dudley, which both opened this year, were showing good progress, the company said.
