Dirty dogs trader is fined £1k

A STREET trader who ran a filthy hot-dog stand has been fined £1,000 at London's Southwark Crown Court.

Kenny Mullins, 20, of Oldham's Walk, Covent Garden, London, was convicted of six breaches of hygiene regulations and told that if the penalty was not paid he would be jailed for 42 days.

When health officers from Westminster City Council raided Mullins's stall under the gables of Westminster Abbey in February last year, they found it was dented and had dirt, grease and debris stuck to it.

There were also no facilities for washing hands or utensils, or for wiping down the surfaces.

Mullins, who now works as a barman, told the court that he had £3,000 in outstanding fines imposed by magistrates for street trading offences.
