Dog's dinner of a menu

A hotel in France has launched a menu with a distinctly canine flavour to it. The menu, at the Trianon Palace hotel in Versailles, is designed for its customers' dogs.

It features dishes such as poached queen's hambone with spring vegetables and low-fat yogurt, and pure beefburger.

A hotel spokesman explained: "A lot of our guests like to travel with their pets, so we decided to do something in keeping with our name and reputation, without getting altogether too absurd."

After their à la carte dinner the pampered pooches can have a snooze in a designer basket, with blanket and drinking bowls, or go round an agility course with their owners in the hotel's grounds.
