Dome caterers dismiss food shortage slurs

Caterers at the Millennium Dome have largely dismissed newspaper reports that food shortages added to the misery of lengthy queues during the opening days of the show.

Granada admitted that faulty equipment - not lack of food - had closed its Trade Winds restaurant for half an hour, while the "odd dish" was affected by supplier failures on day one.

But a spokeswoman for Yo! Sushi revealed that: "The word in the Dome is that people have had food shortages." She added: "Obviously, we have been lucky."
