Dome handout will benefit restaurants

Restaurants at the Millennium Dome will benefit from a compensation package being offered to those caught in the opening-night fiasco at the attraction.

The 6,500 celebrities, company bosses and people who have given service to the community were forced to queue for four hours to get tickets. They will get a free day at the Dome and £15 each to spend on food, drink or merchandising.

The package, to be funded by the New Millennium Experience Company (NMEC), will give the guests £97,500 to spend in the restaurants or the gift shop.

The Dome's restaurants did not lose out from the opening night glitches because they were closed that night, with the NMEC itself providing snacks.
