Eastern promise for refurbished Isle of man hotel

A Hong Kong investor has paid an undisclosed sum for the recently refurbished Empress Hotel in Douglas, on the Isle of Man.

Local press reports cited a price tag of up to £3.5m for the 102-bedroom, three-star property, but vendor John Turner told Caterer that figure was "wide of the mark".

He expected to remain "in a marketing and PR role" for the Empress. The purchaser, Stephen Hung, used an Isle of Man-registered firm, Middlefield Ltd, to complete the transaction.
