Eco gets set for repeat performance

Sami Wasif, owner of the Eco restaurants in Clapham and Brixton, south London, has secured a site for the chain's third outlet, in London's Baker Street.

The site, a former Pizza Hut, is undergoing a £1m refurbishment before reopening in March next year.

The 4,300sq ft space will be turned into a 120-seat restaurant on the ground floor and separate bar area in the basement.

Wasif said that, like the other Eco restaurants, it would concentrate on pizza and pasta, but with the addition of an open charcoal grill for preparing fish, meat and vegetables. There will also be an extended salad menu and more oven-baked dishes.

The site has been secured on a rent of £73,500 a year and payment of a £110,000 premium. Property agent Gilmarc Associates acted for Wasif.
