Williams Refrigeration scooped the Gold Award in this section with its revolutionary Glycol Chillers. This remote refrigeration system combines lower running costs with faster chilling power. One 7.5kw chiller unit can run two small cold rooms, six to seven cabinets and a couple of bottle chillers.

The judges said: "Chefs will like this because of its quick pull down in temperature." "Ease of maintenance is a big issue here - it all takes place outside the kitchen. A big bonus." "Great for bottle chillers in bars, too."

The Silver Award in Equipment & Services went to the Equipline Ram Frozen Fry/Appetiser Dispenser. This is an automated floor-standing unit with an insulated body which keeps chips frozen for up to two hours. Only 14″ wide it dispenses up to 100 baskets an hour of pre-set amounts of chips at the touch of a button.

Judge Ian Neil, chief executive at Wagamama said: "I don't sell chips, but this product makes me want to." Other judges commented: "Super. Great holding." " Very functional." "Should be no mismanagement." "Fantastic for fast food outlets and outdoor caterers."

The Bronze Award was presented to Rational for its CleanJet system fitted as standard on all its ClimaPlus Combi ovens. CleanJet is a robot arm which slots into the oven and cleans the oven automatically, spraying water all around and moving up and down. Detergent is also dispensed automatically. Shortest cycle is 23 minutes.

The judges said: "Anything that helps staff keep equipment clean." "It's a super idea." "I will buy one."
