ETB decision deadline tomorrow
Tomorrow is the last day for the hospitality industry to comment on Government plans to create a new framework for the tourism industry as part of its spending review. This could involve the abolition of the English Tourist Board.
The board itself will submit its response to the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) tomorrow. It has, in the past, argued for the need for a national, independent tourism body for England (Caterer, 30 July, page 10).
A spokeswoman for the DCMS said the industry had thrown up several alternatives to the four options it came up with to replace the ETB. However, since the plans also have to be built into the Tourism Strategy Document, its decision will not be known until October or November.
