Eton Town House brings Tyrie back to Edinburgh

Peter Tyrie, managing director of the Eton Town House Group, is returning to Edinburgh with a 66-bedroom boutique hotel.

The £7m Glasshouse hotel is scheduled to open in the Scottish capital in autumn 2002. It is at the foot of Calton Hill.

Tyrie developed the Balmoral hotel in Edinburgh in the early 1990s only to see his hotel business Balmoral International fall victim to the recession.

He bought the property from Queens Moat Houses when it was called the North British hotel.

Since launching Eton Town House in 1998, Tyrie has opened two hotels in London and is opening two more this summer, one in London and one in Leeds.
