Eurostar takes UK red meat off the menu
British pork, beef and lamb have been taken off Eurostar menus on all trains departing from London, as a precaution against the spread of foot-and-mouth disease.
Eurostar and contract caterer Momentum made the decision in anticipation of advice from the Ministry of Agriculture.
The Eurostar menu now includes vegetarian sausages for breakfast, and a choice of fish and poultry - chicken or duck - for lunch and dinner.
Momentum, a joint venture between Cremonini, an Italian specialist in on-train catering, and Compass, provides all Eurostar meals. Red meat is available on trains departing from Paris, Brussels and Lille.
