Fuller's tries a break with tradition

Fuller's English Inns breaks with its "traditional pub" image when it opens the Brigstow hotel in Bristol city centre on 6 August.

The 120-bedroom property, which overlooks a tributary of the river Avon, will be aimed primarily at business travellers.

Justin Huber, operations manager for Fuller's hotels division, said: "Our core business will always be pubs and the brewery but we had the opportunity to acquire the building and we needed to build something different."

The former 1960s office block was rebuilt over 15 months at a cost of £11m. Room prices will range from £130 to £150 during the week, dropping to £75 to £95 at weekends.

A 100-seat restaurant will serve Mediterranean-style food.
