Gastronomic tour prize up for grabs
A Gastronomic tour of Norway, including a cruise along the Norwegian coast, is the prize on offer for the winner of the 2002 Norwegian Seafood Recipe Challenge.
Chefs working in the UK have until 20 May to submit an original recipe for a main course using Norwegian cod, haddock or prawns. Ten entrants will be invited to take part in a cook-off at the Roof Gardens in London's Kensington in June, when the finalists' task will be to prepare two covers of their recipe.
A judging panel including Jean-Christophe Novelli will select the winner and cash prizes will be awarded to the chefs in second and third places.
The event will be hosted by TV chef Patrick Anthony and followed by a lunch and prizegiving.
Judges will be looking for a contemporary and creative dish that makes the most of the flavours of Norwegian seafood. Last year's winner, Andrew Donovan from the Tenth restaurant at the Royal Garden hotel, London, prepared seared Norwegian cod on coriander couscous with a Thai coconut froth. His trip included a meal at Oslo's Restaurant Oro, cooked by 1999 Bocuse d'Or gold medallist Terje Ness, and a four-day cruise from Trumso to Bergen.
Now in its third year, the competition is sponsored by the Norwegian Seafood Export Council and run in association with the Craft Guild of Chefs.
