Globalisation protesters march under new US flag
Protesters in North America marked Independence Day yesterday by waving an alternative version of their national flag.
The "brands and bands" flag, which featured the logos of McDonald's and Pizza Hut, was waved as a protest against corporate globalisation.
Adbusters, the activist organiser, chose American Independence Day to highlight what it described as "US subservience to the corporations".
The flag was also waved in London, Tokyo, Sweden, Turkey, Switzerland, Poland, Germany and Austria.
