Go for gold

Want the lowdown on the new food and drink products set to hit the market? Then look out for the Catering Update/Caterer & Hotelkeeper Excellence in Food & Drink Awards. Appealing new products can help to differentiate your food and beverage offerings from those of your customers, and tracking our excellence awards will put you wise to the most outstanding food and beverages products on the market.

And if you're a manufacturer or distributor, the awards are the perfect way to gain industry-wide recognition for your latest lines.

The awards span 14 categories, including alcoholic drinks, ready meals, tinned products and beverages. One category winner will walk away with the prestigious Gold Award, presented to the winner of winners.

Our rigorous judging process ensures that only the finest products make it to the final stage, when a panel of chefs, operators, product development experts and brand experts will gather for tasting sessions at London's Westminster College.

The competition is open to manufacturers or distributors of food and drink products. Entries can be new launches or established products, branded or own-label, and must be entered individually, not as ranges. Products must be available for caterers to purchase by 31 October 2004 - those still at the development stage are not eligible.

This year's event will take place at the Dorchester, on London's Park Lane, on 12 November, in association with food service company 3663. To find out more, go to the Caterer Group stand - S4820 - at Hotelympia this week.

Des Bell, director of marketing at 3663, commented: "We are delighted to be working with Catering Update/Caterer & Hotelkeeper on the awards again this year. These awards will reward manufacturers who supply the highest quality products and who continue to invest in research and development. The awards are a great testimony and a well-deserved accolade to the industry's professionalism, and it is fantastic that suppliers and manufacturers will be recognised for their innovation in providing outstanding products for the catering industry."
