Grandiose signs consortium deal

A new chain of upmarket country house hotels is planned after the sale of the Greenway hotel near Cheltenham to a Far Eastern investment company linked to the owners of the Lords of the Manor.

Grandiose Management last week bought the 19-bedroom Greenway from proprietor David White for an undisclosed sum. Grandiose will form a joint venture with Empire Ventures, which owns Lords of the Manor in Upper Slaughter, Gloucestershire, and bought the Feathers Hotel in Woodstock, Oxfordshire last month. The consortium will market the three hotels under a brand name to be announced early next year.

Iain Shelton, general manager of Lords of the Manor, will become the controlling senior manager of the three hotels, reporting to both companies. His current deputy, Shaune Ayers, will manage the Greenway.
