Group Restaurateur of the Year

Group Restaurateur of the Year

The group restaurant sector isn't just growing in size - it's growing in stature. Winning the Catey for Group Restaurateur of the Year is now a multiple honour, reflecting the difficulty of maintaining high standards across many sites at once.

Restaurant groups can be in a chain with a single brand and type of restaurant, or they can be disparate outlets with differing cuisines, atmospheres and decors. The one thing that unites a group is a common philosophy, often concerned with delivering consistency of quality and service.

In 2001 the Group Restaurant Catey is once again sponsored by Winterhalter, the premium brand of warewashing. Winterhalter is familiar with strong and focused group managements that demand the same quality and reliability from their suppliers as they deliver to customers; thus it recognises the importance of the chain of reliability that allows group restaurateurs to deliver that quality to the diner.

Winterhalter is a specialist in dishwashing and glasswashing - ensuring a complete, high-quality service for equipment supply, installation, maintenance and ongoing supplies. It supports this with "lifecycle" guarantees designed to give restaurateurs complete peace of mind on the "clear-up" part of service.

Winterhalter's support of the Group Restaurateur Catey recognises those who have made their mark operating branded, themed or group-managed restaurants, those with a particular skill for marketing a quality service - and delivering on the promise.

Previous winners of the Group Restaurateur of the Year category show just how the sector has impacted on the industry. Last year's Catey winner, Simon Woodroffe of Yo! Sushi, introduced a new cuisine to Britain, while previous winners have included Adam and Sam Kaye of Ask Restaurants, John Barnes of Harry Ramsden's, David Page of PizzaExpress, and Neville Abraham and Laurence Isaacson of Groupe Chez Gérard. Each winner has brought something new and impressive to the sector.
