Gueller to open in Leeds

Simon Gueller, chef and proprietor of Millers, The Bistro, in Harrogate, is opening a restaurant in a converted mill in Leeds on 14 November, which looks set to rival another former mill in Leeds, Brasserie Forty Four.

The 100-seat restaurant will be called Rascasse and will serve brasserie-style, high-quality food, at an average spend per head of £35. There will also be a separate bar with seating for 50.

Mr Gueller is partnered in his latest venture by Nigel Jollisse, a Harrogate businessman. Mr Jollisse and Mr Gueller are equal partners in the venture. It is costing them about £500,000 to refurbish the mill.

Mr Jollisse has had no previous experience of the hospitality industry and will take a back-seat regarding operational matters.

Mr Gueller and his wife still own Millers, The Bistro, but Mr Gueller will now cook at the new restaurant. Andrew Cressey takes over as head chef at the Harrogate restaurant.
