Hanover bucks foot-and-mouth trend
The foot-and-mouth outbreak failed to damage business at UK-based hotel group Hanover International during the first five months of 2001, the company said today. Chairman Peter Eyles commented: "As a result of our targeting the conference, training and corporate markets, we have seen strong growth in the group's rooms yield, despite the foot-and-mouth outbreak having affected the leisure sector. "This performance, in the light of the fact that our core market remains strong, gives us reason to be optimistic about future trading." He was speaking after Hanover's annual general meeting in London.
