Hanover buys Andrew Weir hotels

Hanover International is buying six-strong hotel group Andrew Weir for about £33m.

Andrew Weir Hotels owns and operates: the Pine Lodge Hotel, Bromsgrove; the Cardiff Bay Hotel in Cardiff, the Basingstoke Country Hotel, Hampshire; the Glen Eagle Hotel, Harpenden; Wortley House Hotel in Scunthorpe; and the Old Palace Lodge in Dunstable. They have a total of 536 bedrooms.

The group turned over £15.1m in the year to 31 December 1999 and made an operating profit of £3.4m.

The acquisition will give Hanover a total of 14 hotels and conference centres with about 1,450 bedrooms between them.
