Hard Rock Café takes a gamble on Seminoles
The Hard Rock Café is putting its name to two hotel and casino projects in Florida to be run by a native American Indian nation.
The hotels, on land owned by the Seminole people, will open at the end of next year. One will have 200 bedrooms and the other 750.
Hard Rock Café is licensing its name to the Indians.
American Indian gaming has exploded in the USA in the past decade, with impoverished tribes opening casinos to generate cash. Many US states ban gaming, but their laws do not apply in Indian nation reservations.
The Hard Rock Café opened a hotel in Orlando this month. Another opens in Pattaya, Thailand, later this year.
