Heathrow gets its first taste of India

A specialist food manufacturer is set to launch the first ever Indian restaurant at Heathrow Airport. The 90-seat outlet, in Terminal 1, will open its doors in September.

Noon Products, based in Southall, Middlesex, is best known for its chilled and frozen ready meals. But if the Heathrow project takes off, the company plans to build a small chain of similar restaurants in high street locations.

The Heathrow restaurant, called Noon: A Taste of India, will open from 6am to 10pm seven days a week.

The company claims it will mark a turning point for Indian eateries in the UK, with decor "inclining more to Manhattan than colonial India".

The menu will also depart from traditional Indian restaurant fare, offering lesser-known dishes alongside popular favourites.

A take-away service will be available, alongside the sit-down, waitress service.

Most of the food will be cooked at Noon's Southall factory and delivered chilled to the restaurant.
