Hilton female managers rise to one in seven
Hilton has increased the number of its female general managers in the UK with the appointment of Dyan Stone to take charge of its Avisford Park hotel near Arundel in West Sussex.
But female bosses are still heavily outnumbered by men at Hilton, with female general managers at only 13 out of the chain's 84 hotels.
The appointment of Stone, who was previously Hilton's revenue director for the south of England with responsibility for 21 hotels, follows that of Dagmar Mühle, who took over as general manager of the Caledonian Hilton last November.
Six of the small group of Hilton's female general managers have held their positions for the last five years or more.
A Hilton spokeswoman said the number of female general managers was increasing, with around four appointed in the last year, but she pointed out that throughout the chain's UK properties, women accounted for up to half the number of department heads.
