Hotelier faces charges over cars

Scotland's procurator fiscal will decide over the next few days whether a Perthshire hotelier accused of vandalising cars left in the hotel car park without payment should be prosecuted.

A local police officer filed a report with the procurator which could result in Ian Hitchin, the owner of the Ben Lawers hotel, Lawers, being charged with vandalism, including letting down tyres and glueing windscreen-washer jets shut.

"We charge people, and the procurator fiscal decides whether to proceed. He was told not to touch any cars that weren't his," said the policeman, Constable Deuchars.

Since the alleged incident came to light police have received a number of complaints from other people claiming that their cars had been tampered with.

Hitchin was unavailable for comment.
