Ice Station
A curvaceously moulded front reminiscent of the latest coffee dispensers is designed to give the Scotsman TC180 ice maker/dispenser front-of-house appeal. The table-top machine, which measures 388mm wide x 663mm deep x 874 mm, makes small randomly shaped ice pieces or "chunklets" at a rate of 140 kg/day, with 5.5kg storage. The ice is made in a stainless steel evaporator with a "two ways" refrigeration flow which is claimed to result in a more consistent ice output.
An infra-red sensor determines the dispensing operation, providing a touch-free system which reduces the potential for cross-contamination. Rounded corners and the use of food grade materials, plus a plastic dispensing chute which can be easily removed for cleaning and sanitation further aid hygiene.
Scotsman is now a British-owned business following its acquisition near the end of last year by the Berisford group, owners of Welbilt, Viscount, Convotherm and other companies. Addition of the Italian company - the world's largest ice machine manufacturer - virtually doubles the scale of Berisford's European foodservice interests.
